Safe Streets curriculum training

Bike Dangers

Last month, on request from the South Carolina Safe Routes to School regional coordinators, we trained 4 of their staff in the use of PCC’s bike safety education curriculum for schools.  Through the generous sponsorship of Bikelaw, we developed two curriculums for our Safe Streets Save Lives bike safety education program.

The 1st curriculum – for general audiences – is being held in quarantine at PCC headquarters in Columbia until we take this grand campaign on tour to train our statewide group of Safe Streets ambassadors for one full, rocking week November 17-22, 2014.  By “general audiences”, we mean any group, including Boys & Girls clubs, bike clubs, churches, community centers, and any other venue with community leadership looking for content or how to teach others the rights and responsibilities of bicyclists and motorists.  Stay tuned, and please let us know if you’d like to attend this Fall training – with your commitment being to take this SSSL presentation into your community.

This 2nd curriculum – for SC schools and classrooms – is open-source and available on the SC DPS website, and ready for use by teachers of most grade levels in all SC schools.  If you need training in how to use the curriculum, contact your Safe Routes to School coordinator by request.
