Training others in bike safety is fun, especially when it involves kids who love to get around on bikes in their neighborhood.  This group we trained this Summer was especially fun.  A multi-age group at a summer daycare/academy, it was encouraging to see such enthusiasm towards the Safe Streets curriculum, especially the lesson on finding your Get Around Plan.  For more information on this SC specific bicycle safety education program, see our Safe Streets website here.  The Safe Streets school curriculum is easy to use and available for anyone.  If you’d like more information on becoming a Safe Streets ambassador to access more resources and our expanded curriculum, contact us today.

We also worked with the Boys and Girls Club of the Midlands in a Diversity Leadership Institute effort to bring midlands law enforcement into a pilot mentoring program with a bicycle safety element.  Local leadership stepped up and we had a great time showing what the Safe Streets ambassador curriculum can do when it’s put into combination with community mentoring efforts.  Thanks also to the fantastic Safe Streets ambassadors that led this:  Doris Ford, SC Safe Routes to School Midlands Coordinator, and Tim Malson of Summit Cycles.
