2013 National Bike Challenge concludes!
From May 1 to September 30, 2013, South Carolina participated in the National Bike Challenge, a program of the League of American Bicyclists.
285 South Carolinians logged 261,881 miles! They burned 3 Million calories, saved $15,241 in transportation costs, and saved 48,004 in pounds of CO2! Of all of those miles logged, 19% were for transportation, 2% while mountain biking, and the rest were on the open road as recreational rides.
SC finished with a national ranking of 22 which was ahead of Georgia and North Carolina. From a total of 2144 teams nationally, the PCC team finished number 11 with 176651 points and Sun City was number 12 with 173331 points. PCC had the top 4 riders in the State. Tom Lex was first followed by David Behrens, Bill Kerrigan and David Barton. From a total of 34614 riders nationally, Tom Lex finished the challenge ranked number 14 and David Behrens number 30.
