Help Make Sumter County More Bicycle Friendly

Sumter County Active Lifestyles (SCAL) wants to know what you expect out of a bicycle friendly community and is asking motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians to fill out a questionnaire to determine the most pressing needs for bicyclists. This is a great opportunity for Sumter County residents lend their voice to infrastructure and bicycling decisions.

Are you interested in having more local groups, like business and universities, invested in cycling? Or do you want better infrastructure, including more paths, trails and parking spaces? Do you think there’s a greater need for better education and safety efforts?

In 2009, SCAL applied for Bicycle Friendly Community status from the League of American Bicyclists and received an honorable mention. This survey will make targeted improvement efforts possible and make Sumter County even more bicycle friendly, as well as reaching out to motorists and pedestrians.

The more responses SCAL receives, the better they can serve the needs of Sumter County’s bicyclists, so please take about 10 minutes to fill out the survey. It can be found on their website, Facebook or by calling 774-3861 for a questionnaire or more information.
