Safe Streets Lobby Day recap!

Led by the Palmetto Cycling Coalition, we organized lobby day in partnership with the National Safety Council, Citizens for Safe Streets, Bicycle Corporation of America, Greenville Spinners Bicycle Club, ABATE (motorcycle lobby for SC), and many other individuals. This Alliance of Safe Streets advocates focused on S.723, the Hands Free bill, among a longer list of bills to save lives on the road.

We spoke with dozens of legislators about the importance of the Hands Free bill, which has vast support. Challenges were discussed, we listened, and we worked through those concerns in subsequent discussions with legislators, with the goal of moving the bill forward. Stay tuned for more information about this bill’s progress.

The larger Safe Streets legislative agenda also included H.3173 (Vulnerable Roadway Users), H.3172 (Bicycle & Pedestrian Safety), H.3656 (Complete Streets), H.4794 (Multimodal Safety Plan), and S.906 (3 Feet to Pass).
