SC // PCC to Host bike & ped Winning Campaign Training
We’re thrilled that we were chosen among a slate of applicants to host a 2011 Alliance for Biking & Walking Winning Campaign Training. According to their website, the Training is a “three-day boot camp for bicycle and pedestrian advocacy organizations.” This workshop provides novice and veteran advocates–individuals and formal groups–the tools to create and advance campaigns that increase bicycling and walking in their communities. The training in South Carolina will take place from November 4-6 at the Columbia offices of the Palmetto Cycling Coalition.
Asheville Winning Campaigns Training, November 2010 |
In November of 2010 the PCC Director was joined by two Board Members to attend a similar training that took place in Asheville, NC. After this experience, the leadership of the PCC came to understand the value of such opportunities for organizations to learn and grow. The Coalition believes that with a Winning Campaigns Training, a tremendous amount can be learned about organizational and campaign issues, and the PCC would like to bring a similar opportunity to South Carolina and the region, thus uniting advocates of a common mission and goal. Additionally, this Training creates a valuable opportunity for advocates to network and collaborate with peers.
Regardless of your level of involvement in bicycle/pedestrian issues in your community, whether you are a longtime advocate or simply interested in more opportunities to walk and bike safely, we strongly encourage you to attend this training. Mark your calendars and stay tuned for more information about the opportunity!
Finally, we are honored to be the host of such an energizing and valuable opportunity, and look forward to the change that this can bring to other individuals and organizations around the region.
